Perhaps one of the most unexpected companies to open a pop up are Amazon but after trialing the small retail space in 2015, Amazon committed to rolling out 100 pop up shops across America. To date they have opened 87 pop up shops across the U.S. since 2016. Their pop ups were a ‘Store within a store’ profiling many of their products, e-readers, amazon echo etc.

After much consideration and evaluation Amazon have decided to close all Pop-Up Shops by end of April 2019. They do however plan to continue to roll out their popular ‘Amazon Go’ grocery stores which are cashierless and launch a new line of grocery stores.

This is the true nature of a pop up, running it for a time to see if is a viable operation and then tweaking as needs be.
